How To Gain Twitter Followers

It's Twitter week at Danemco! Today we'll talk about how to gain a twitter following.
In order to successfully profit from twitter, you first need a following. When people follow you on twitter, your updates show up on their twitter timeline. That's how you get your message "out there" on twitter.
In this article, we'll list four strategies to help you get started with a twitter following.
1. Dedicate Your Twitter Profile To A Subject
One of the easiest ways to gain a following is to tweet about something specific. For example, one might tweet about celebrities. Another might tweet about old movies. You could create a twitter account about recipes that you tried, date ideas, web design, or quilting.
As you keep to a subject, people interested in those subjects will likely find you and follow you.
2. Find & Follow Others You Like
There is absolutely no shame in following thousands of others on twitter. Following others is an opportunity to participate in their discussions. Follow and read what others are saying, and don't be shy to comment or reply to what they say. Many people reading your reply on their twitter timeline (assuming they're following you too) just might click on your twitter profile and begin following you too.
3. Be Polite and Follow People Back
You don't get far if you're selfish on twitter. When people follow you, be polite and follow them back. If you don't like what they say, you can always unfollow them.
JetBlue has over 1.6 million followers. On the other hand, they follow over 600,000 as well. NakedPizza has nearly 5,000 followers, and they in turn follow many thousands.
The other advantage to mutual follow-ship is that you can direct message each other, opening up new lines of communication.
4. Advertise Your Twitter Profile
Put your twitter profile on your website, your e-mail signature, and other ads. The more exposure, the more likely people will follow you. Another way to advertise your profile is to join 3rd party twitter friend finder websites, such as wefollow.com. People looking for those that tweet in their subject area can find you easily there.
In conclusion, the trick to doing well on twitter is to first gain a following. By twittering about a particular subject that interests you and by following and participating in discussions with others that follow your subject, you can quickly build a twitter following.
