" The newsletter was wonderful.  Every concern/question we might have about the online consumer is answered. It will make me take a hard look at my site and see what might need to be changed.  By the way, I thought last month's newsletter was very informative and useful also.  Please keep this going. It is just one of the reasons I recommend Danemco to others." - D. H.

Trends for 2010

Posted by administrator on Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Watching trends and anticipating changes is necessary for any business to survive long-term.  The way people use the Internet has changed a lot over the years, and the next year will be an exciting year for all of us!  How will 2010 be different from 2009 as far as the Internet goes?  More importantly, what do these trends mean for your business? I believe you'll see more of these things in the next year:

  • Mobile Phone Web Browsing.  Since the popularity of the Blackberry, iPhone & other smart phones, more people are using them to browse the web.  I bet you'll see a higher demand from customers to make your websites mobile phone friendly.  We recently added a team member with lots of experience in mobile phone development to help your websites be more mobile friendly.
  • Social Networking x 10.  We saw a big increase in social networking this year.  I believe you'll see even more of it.  Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and dozens of other sites all compete for our attention.  Internet users of all ages -- not just the college kid generation -- are using these services.  Learning how to tap into these services to boost your business can be like finding a gold mine.  We have newsletters, webinars, and even a specialist on our team to help in this arena.
  • More customizations and options online (or Demanding Consumers?).  There is more competition for online stores than ever before, and that competition is only going to increase.  The more selection a consumer has, the more picky she or he becomes.  I believe you'll see an increased demand for customizations, choices, and options from consumers in the upcoming year.  This can include more product photos, better product reviews, etc. Having a good programming team behind your website makes these things possible.
  • New web browsers.  Mozilla Firefox is coming out with version 3.6 in a few weeks with a slew of fancy new features.  Microsoft Internet Explorer is working on version 9 of their browser (eek!).  Apple Safari is gaining a little bit of market share as more people buy Mac computers (Safari is the default browser on Mac computers).  Google is coming out with their very own operating system for desktop and notebook PCs to compete with Microsoft  sporting their own browser called Chrome. Every browser that comes out changes the online landscape and how people interact on the web.  Keep a lookout for these changes.
